With the Hertz Gold Cup behind us, there’s just one stop left on the 2023 PPA schedule: the CIBC PPA Tour Finals taking place Nov. 30 – Dec. 3 in San Clemente, CA.
Players have fought week in and week out all year long to finish at the top of the rankings and earn the right to compete in the inaugural pickleball event.
The Race is finally finished. Here are the players who earned the right to compete in Southern California.
Men’s and Women’s Singles
The top eight players on both the men’s and women’s side qualify for singles competition. The eight players are divided into two pools, or groups. Each player plays the three other players in his/her group. The winners of each group (best overall record) are placed in separate semi-final brackets, with the top player in Group A playing the runner-up in Group B, and vice versa.
Here are the pools of competition for men’s singles:

Men’s and Women’s Doubles
The top 16 players in both men’s and women’s doubles qualify for the finals. For women’s doubles, the #1 female player chooses her partner from any of the remaining qualifiers. This process repeats until the eight teams are formed, always starting with the highest-ranked available player choosing their partner. Just like in the singles competition, each team plays the three other teams in their group. The winner of each group (best overall record) is placed in separate semi-final brackets, with the top team in Group A playing the runner-up in Group B, and vice versa.

Mixed Doubles
The top eight mixed doubles players for both men and women qualify for the finals. All 16 players are sorted in order of points regardless of gender. The player with the most points chooses any qualifying player of the opposite gender. The remaining player with the most points on either side makes the next pick, and this process continues until the eight mixed teams have been formed. Similar to the singles and gender doubles competitions, each team plays the three other teams in their group. The winner of each group (best overall record) is placed in separate semi-final brackets, with the top team in Group A playing the runner-up in Group B, and vice versa.
