=== MEN’S SINGLES ===

#1 FEDERICO STAKSRUD: 

  • He has earned a medal in every tournament this year except Kansas City and Virginia Beach. (8 gold, 8 silver, 3 bronze)
  • His 12 career men’s singles titles are second only to Ben Johns.
  • Staksrud beat Johnson 11-1, 11-6 in the semis at the Utah Open in August.

#4 HUNTER JOHNSON: 

  • Johnson beat four former champions while winning the Atlanta Slam: Gabe Joseph, Tyson McGuffin, JW Johnson, and Garnett.
  • In six tournaments since August, he has won a bronze medal in Utah, Gold in Atlanta, Silver in Virginia Beach, and Bronze at Worlds.

Bronze: 

#30 Adam Harvey: 

  • His first PPA medal opportunity.
  • Beat the #3 seed (Dylan Frazier) and the #7 seed (Rafa Hewett) 

#5 Pablo Tellez: 

  • Looking for his first PPA singles medal since taking a silver at the Red Rock Open in April 2023.

=== WOMEN’S SINGLES ===

#8 CHAO YI WANG:

  • Won her first two PPA medals, both bronze, in Bristol and Utah.
  • Trying to become the eighth different champion this year (Fahey, Waters, Buckner, Jansen, Mary Brascia, Castillo, Devidze)

#6 KATE FAHEY: 

  • Starting in August, she medaled in six of the last eight tournaments: Silver in Kansas City, Gold in Utah, Silver in Las Vegas, Bronze in Virginia Beach, Gold in Las Vegas, Silver at the Worlds.

Bronze: 

#5 Parris Todd: 

  • Three silvers and a bronze this year, most recently a silver at the Atlanta Slam in September.
  • Her signature win was beating Anna Leigh Waters for the Orange County Cup title in 2022.

#7 Judit Castillo: 

  • Bronze at the Orange County Cup in June.
  • Gold at the Austin Open in March (beat Kaitlyn Christian)

=== MIXED DOUBLES ===

#1 ANNA BRIGHT and DYLAN FRAZIER: 

  • Bright has three career Mixed Doubles gold medals (Daescu, Ignatowich, Newman); this would be Frazier’s first.
  • They have 29 overall career titles between them (Bright 18, Frazier 11)
  • Beat Tyra Black and Hayden Patriquin in the semis, 14-12 in the third game.

#3 JESSIE IRVINE and GABE TARDIO:

  • Beat Anna Bright and James Ignatowich to win the Utah Open: Irvine’s 4th Mixed title and Tardio’s first.
  • Irvine is looking for her tenth career title. She has 5 golds in Women’s Doubles and four in Mixed.

Bronze: 

#7 Hurricane Tyra Black and Hayden Patriquin:

  • Patriquin won a bronze with Lea Jansen at the Indoor Championships in March.
  • Black is trying for her first PPA Mixed Doubles medal.

#6 Meghan Dizon and Andrei Daescu:

  • Dizon is looking for her first career PPA Mixed Doubles medal.
  • Daescu won the Austin Open title with Anna Bright in March.

=== MEN’S DOUBLES ===

#1 FEDERICO STAKSRUD and GABE TARDIO:

  • Beat last week’s World Championships gold medalists, Hayden Patriquin and Riley Newman, 11-7 and 11-0 in the quarterfinals.
  • This team won the Kansas City Open in August.
  • Both players have three gold medals together. Staksrud’s other two are with Hayden Patriquin; Tardio’s other two are with Andrei Daescu.

#7 JAMES IGNATOWICH and CJ KLINGER:

  • Klinger reached the semis last week with Quang Duong.
  • Klinger is looking for his first PPA title.
  • Ignatowich won a silver medal with Matt Wright at the Utah Open in August.
  • Ignatowich has a gold medal from 2023, with Tyson McGuffin.

Bronze: 

#4 Andrei Daescu and Pablo Tellez:

  • Daescu has three gold medals this year; two with Gabe Tardio, one with Matt Wright.
  • Tellez has three silver medals this year, most recently with Dekel Bat last week at the World Championships.

#11 Blaine Hovenier and Julian Arnold:

  • Hovenier is looking for his first PPA medal.
  • Arnold won silver and bronze medals in 2023, both with Thomas Wilson.

=== WOMEN’S DOUBLES ===

#1 ANNA BRIGHT and RACHEL ROHRABACHER:

  • In 12 finals this year, they are 3-5 against Parenteau and Waters, and 4-0 against other teams.
  • They beat Parenteau and Waters in four games for the Austin Open title in March;  in four games again at the Atlanta Slam in September, and in three games at the Worlds in November.
  • Parenteau and Waters have lost only 14 games in finals together. Bright and Rohrabacher are responsible for nine of those 14.

#5 JACKIE KAWAMOTO and JADE KAWAMOTO:

  • Jade has two silver medals this year (Atlanta and Kansas City)
  • Jackie has a silver in Houston and a bronze in Atlanta this year.
  • They -have- medaled together before: A silver in Cincinnati in 2023 and a bronze at the Baird in Ohio in 2022.

Bronze: 

#4 Hurricane Tyra Black and Allyce Jones:

  • They won bronze medals at the World Championships last week after losing to Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher in the semis. That same team beat them again yesterday.
  • They also won a bronze medal together at the Red Rock Open in April.

#7 Maggie Brascia and Mary Brascia:

  • Their best result together was a silver medal (Parenteau and Waters) at the 2023 National Championships (a non-PPA event)
  • Neither player has a PPA Doubles medal.
  • Mary has a gold and two silvers in Singles this year.
